21 December 2015

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM SCOTT DUFF - The river of life takes us on a journey of constant growth and change.  Many years ago I was a draftsman, then a construction manager.  My interest in IPSC competition led me to the M14, Service Rifle competition, the DCM and…most profoundly, the Garand.  Most of you probably first got to know me through my books on the Garand, articles in the Garand Collectors Association Journal and my GCA directorship.  In more recent years my publishing efforts have expanded to encompass not only my own titles on the Garand, but also books on other firearms and their accoutrements by knowledgeable authors.  Since January 1988 we have published 22 books, 17 of which are in print.  Many of you have also enjoyed the opportunity to buy and sell your collectable US Martial Arms via our consignment sales service.

Now, we are moving into another era of change.  The publishing effort has grown to the extent that it now demands full-time attention.  Just as construction management evolved into authorship and arms consignments, now arms consignments must give way to publishing.  Consequently, as of today, we are closing out consignment sales in order to grow the publishing effort.  We recognize that this will be a disappointment to many; in truth, to myself as well.  Over the years I have been privileged to see, handle and document previously unknown treasures that otherwise would not have come to light.  We should also add that the day of prix fixe sales is being overcome by auction sales.

We want to thank you for your continued friendship and the privilege of your custom for all these years.  Autographed copies of all of our 17 books in print are available through our secure Shopping Cart. The books are located on the Scott Duff Publications link located in the Site Index. Our newest titles may be viewed and ordered by scrolling down this page. In addition, keep your eye on the scott-duff.com web site for announcements of new titles from Scott Duff Publications in the coming years.

Announcing the Release of Another Exciting NEW Book

from Scott A. Duff Publications

U.S. Knife Bayonets & Scabbards - A Collector's Guide

NEWU.S. Knife Bayonets & Scabbards - A Collector's Guide"by Gary M. Cunningham, with Foreword by Scott A. Duff. This new book is a collector's guide that chronicles U.S. knife bayonets & their scabbards from those used on the M1892 Krag rifle through M16 rifle.

No military rifle is truly complete without its matching bayonet and scabbard. Combining bayonet with rifle not only enhances the appearance of the ensemble, but more closely represents its use by the infantryman. Those who collect military rifles often gravitate towards collecting bayonets. Thus, the study and acquisition of U.S. bayonets and their scabbards have grown into an important collecting discipline in its own right. This book with its new, updated and expanded content replaces Gary Cunningham’s earlier work. Gary’s diligent research continued after publication of his first book in 1997 and U.S. Knife Bayonets & Scabbards, A Collector’s Guide is the result. Included in this book is detailed information on the following bayonets and their scabbards: Model 1892, M1905 (1906-1922), M1917, M1905 (1942-1943), M1, M4, M5, M6, M7, M9, and much, much more.

The layout and text of Mr. Cunningham's second bayonet book is user-friendly to beginning and advanced collectors alike. Bayonets and scabbards are addressed in the order in which they were adopted. A detailed "Specifications Box" is included on each model to guide the reader through the variations. Overall and close up photographs are presented for each type of bayonet and scabbard. Laminated, Perfect bound with a soft cover, 8-1/2" x 11", of 168 pages, 545 photographs, 8 color pages, and 13 tables of production figures. All copies signed by both Gary Cunningham and Scott Duff

Announcing the Release of Another Exciting NEW Book by Walt Kuleck

from Scott A. Duff Publications

The Ruger 10/22 Complete Owner's and Assembly Guide

NEW The Ruger 10/22 Complete Owner's and Assembly Guide - How to select, configure, operate, maintain and upgrade your own Ruger 10/22 by Walt Kuleck.

WHY A Ruger 10/22 COMPLETE OWNER’S and ASSEMBLY GUIDE?

This book is the latest volume in the Scott A. Duff Publications’ Guide series. The Ruger 10/22 Complete Owner’s and Assembly Guide is like the other Guides; its purpose is to give the new 10/22 owner a head start towards an in-depth understanding of the history, operation, maintenance, upgrading and use of his or her rifle, while providing the experienced owner knowledge that they don’t yet have, with the intent of giving even the expert new insights into the 10/22.

The three patented innovations Bill Ruger and his chief engineer, Harry Sefried put into the 10/22 insured its success via rock-sold function and unprecedented configuration versatility. Over the years, Ruger has introduced a wide panoply of 10/22 variations for the shooter’s pleasure. More significantly, the ease of brrel and stock change made it simple and practical for a shooter to customize and personalize her or his 10/22. The unintended consequence of Ruger and Sefried’s innovative design is a huge aftermarket industry offering 10/22 barrels, stocks, triggers, optical sight rails...ad infinitum. The 10/22 ranks with the AR-15 and M1911 as one of the three top platforms for parts and accessories offerings by suppliers such as Brownells.

The Purpose of This Book

Before acquiring or enhancing your 10/22, have a plan. Set down the purpose of your rifle or carbine. Are you building for plinking? For hunting? Three-gun rimfire competition? The same considerations apply for changes or upgrades to your 10/22. It’s fine to build or change a 10/22 “just because.” But, consider the time and money you are going to invest in your 10/22, and if the change is truly meets your needs and wants. In the Guide we can't tell you what you should do, but we can show you what you can do!

You will find a great deal of detail on the history, selection, disassembly, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, magazines, upgrades and more. You will also gain an understanding of the principles involved in selecting upgrades, magazines, ammunition and more.

The Owner's and Assembly Guide goes beyond the factory manual in both scope and depth. It’s a “must have” for every 10/22 owner! The Ruger 10/22 Complete Owner's and Assembly Guide is 6" x 9", is Perfect bound with a laminated soft cover, and has 177 Pages and 395 Photographs, 20 in color. All copies are signed by Walt Kuleck!

The NEW AR-15 Complete Owner's Guide

The NEW AR-15 Complete Owner's Guide - How to select, configure, operate, maintain and upgrade your own AR-15 by Walt Kuleck with Greg King.

WHY A “NEW“ AR-15 COMPLETE OWNER’S GUIDE?

In the years following the first publication of The AR-15 Complete Owner’s Guide the universe of the AR-15 has changed dramatically, by both evolution and revolution.

THE PURPOSE OF THE BOOK

While we’ve brought the content of The New AR-15 Complete Owner’s Guide into the 21st century, the purpose we set out for the original Guide is largely unchanged: to build a foundation for understanding, evaluating and selecting AR-15 rifles, components and accessories. It’s for everyone interested in this, the most versatile rifle system ever developed, whether contemplating one’s first AR-15 or one’s tenth.

Because of the AR-15 rifle system’s versatility, we’ll be defining four general areas of AR-15 applications: Defensive Rifle, Hunting Rifle, Competition Rifle, and “Just Plain Fun”! Inevitably, within the Defensive and Hunting categories there will be an extensive range of configurations. We’ll do our best to address the specific needs of the broadest range of users we can.

Within these pages you will find a straightforward, uncomplicated approach to AR-15 ownership and use. Based on your needs and desires, we’ll help you think through your configuration and choice of AR-15s. Once you have your rifle, you’ll find useful information to help you operate, maintain and troubleshoot it. So, let’s begin our journey of discovery into the magnificent world of the AR-15! It's the most comprehensive book of its kind on the AR-15. The new book is 6" x 9", Perfect bound with a laminated soft cover, and has 275 pages, and over 400 photographs. The M1911 Complete Assembly Guide

The M1911 Complete Assembly Guide - The M1911 Complete Assembly Guide is a companion volume to the author's The M1911 Complete Owner's Guide. Lavishly illustrated, The M1911 Complete Assembly Guide is far more than a traditional "how-to" book. Based on the experiences of a diversified build team, the TIPS, TRICKS, and PITFALLS characteristic of Walt Kuleck's previous Complete Assembly Guides are more wide-ranging and encompassing than ever. Coached by pistolsmith Drake Oldham, the author and two "advanced amateurs" show how to assemble and upgrade the M1911. The team discovered on their journey toward understanding that many more "situations" arose than would have been the case if the author had been building a pistol "for The Guide" by himself. They share their experiences-including their missteps—as they build their pistols.

The Assembly Guide goes far beyond the military manuals in both scope and depth. It’s a “must have” for every M1911 owner! The M1911 Complete Assembly Guide is 6" x 9", is Perfect bound with a laminated soft cover, and has 257 pages and over 400 photographs. All copies are signed by Walt Kuleck
